HYPERHIDROSIS (excessive sweating)
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. Botulinum toxin injections are a new treatment option for people with hyperhidrosis. It works by blocking the chemical at the end of the nerves so that it cannot work on the glands or the muscles. In the case of sweat glands it turns them off to reduce sweating.
During the procedure multiple small injections of toxin are placed a few centimetres apart in the armpit.
Results are usually within two weeks and can last for around 6 months.
